Barry M on a Gray Day

Short post - it is very grey here, today...has been for several days. But, Lent - I am winning!

Still no-buy and using this awesome swap polish - Barry M "Orchid" It's one of those "ho-hum" colors in the bottle that once I applied, I loved....good, frosty job, Barry!

Stamped with Amisy plate F01, Konad special white - and teeny clear rhinestone.....I had to play trumpet and sing at a church Lenten service, so I needed to be a tad toned down....LOL

You Were My First

A year ago - my FIRST swap happened. I didn't know what to expect - but haven't looked back. I am a swap-a-holic. Yes, there, I said it. So, today I have a polish from Rebecca....honey, you will always be my first. LOL

This is Boots 17 in "Orange Soda". Funny thing is - the peach/coral thing is THIS Springs' hot topic - guess London REALLY is fashion forward.
This is two coats and the formula is quite smooth....she sent me 3 of these polishes. The others are "Peacock" and "Pink Grapefruit".

Friday's Post trip! 4 going to lovelies all over the world...I see packs for May, Mae, Amber and Lily. I didn't take a picture of yesterday's....sorry. BUT today, there will be 2 or 3 more!

And finally, here is Gigi - obviously not bothered by Lily's latest swap package (SFW) I couldn't wait to tear in to this baby!!!! :*

Going Bananas

One of my favorite Woody Allen movies...........(that beard alone makes me laugh!)

My Roo boy after eating 3 beignets at Cafe Du Monde in NOLA.......(that face, oh, that face!)

The latest swap with the wonderful LILY...............(I almost fainted as I opened it!)

BUT THIS........is what I am "Going Bananas" for right now!!!
This polish is perfect for spring - and there is the slightest blue and pink shimmer in it....

Yesterday was cold (30 degrees and snow!) and I was FREEZING *shivers*. So what did I do? I put this yellow "sunshine in a bottle" on my tips and felt immediately better!

Can you see that shimmery awesomeness????

Thank you Lily, for another wonderful swap!! KISSES!!!!!!

Adventures with Z

I contacted the lovely Zarina on fb a while ago about doing a swap and here is a mani I made using polishes from that swap!!!! (still on the no-buy/swap polish only thing!) She has a brand new blog - you should go follow this sweet blogger! MarShee - Proud to be your "ATE" :)

I used Allue my first.... (water based) in "Golden Rule" - 2 coats.
I stamped with San San in"Ruby Red" using plate GCOCL K04.

This was my first attempt at using a water-based polish. It smelled a little like, um, watermelon, I think???? Not at all like polish, but it applied pretty well. I didn't let my topcoat dry long enough before doing the dishes (GRRRRR) and the Seche on my right hand lifted. Since I do my left hand first, it was fine. I actually did the left about an hour before coating the right - so next time I use this polish I will let it dry much longer than 10 minutes before my domestic duties....LOL!

.....and some Gigi... *woof*

Prince

Nope not "that Prince"...I mean PRINCE, or that symbol.

Yeah that thing. I love Prince...like it's 1999. I secretly always wanted to be Sheila E. But, no.

So what does this have to do with nail polish???? LOOK!

Remember for Lent, I gave up buying new polishes and vowed to only wear "swap" polishes? This is one of those polishes.....I love this color! I got it in one of 2 swaps from the amazing Carli over at Konad-licious. (who, btw, is celebrating 2000 followers!! way to go!) I have to tell you that I contacted Carli about doing a swap and she had not done one before. She sent so many beautiful polishes and earrings.

This little beaut is Sportsgirl NAIL IT in Raspberry Beret. The formula was great and this is one coat topped with Seche!
I really wish it was a pretty day here in the mountains, but it is grey and rainy. I have beautiful nails, though - thanks to beautiful Carli!

And of course, here is Gigi on my lap while I blog, er, uh, work....

"HER" Last Day EDIT!!!!!

Yes, this will be the last day for S-He, "what's her name"... but let me just say that she wore VERY well. If you can see that teenie-weenie bit of tip wear on poniter? That is after 5 days.
YES. FIVE.

I wish all my polishes were this strong. I couldn't stop staring at my nails ~ the color is divine! For me, anyway! I also want to say that this is the first greenish/yellowish polish that didn't horribly stain my nails. I was so afraid to look under the polish after 5 days of wear, but alas, nada!
Here is how it started....Isn't this bracelet gorgeous? I love my Z!!!!!! :*

Here is what I used:
1. S-he (but you already knew that)
2. H08 plate and stamped with San San Red Gleam and Amethyst
3. After 2 days, I added the paisley design from XL plate C

On my thumb, I stamped with Guppy No. G-10
....other than that, I can't tell you what the bottle says, but it's pretty!

I love henna tattoos and henna art - anything Indian inspired and this mani seemed to be like that! I can't wait to try another one!

SHE HAS A NAME!!!!......well, a number. I checked the other s-he polishes and found out that the color number is not only on the bottom of the bottle (little silver sticker) but on the cap label!

So, introducing....................#378

S-he Loveliness

I just love this color....it's not yellow, it's not green...um, Chartreuse? I don't know, but just like all my other S-he polishes, this formula is rockin'. I am not bothered by VNL, but if I were, I would have added a 3rd coat (this is 2).

I really wish I could tell you who sent this to me...it was one of 2 or 3 people.....Biba or Lyra, or maybe KONADomania....I think...I had been really good about keeping a list of everything sent to me, but I recently cleaned my "swap area: (LOL) and this one got stuck in a box with some other polishes. Until 4 days ago, I didn't even remember S-he actually existed! *SMH* To compound matters, the little number sticker is missing, so I don't even know which # this is....bad all around. EXCEPT that this is a TOTALLLY AWESOME polish. So, thanks, whomever, for this color and swap!

Some Gigi cuteness - this is "YUMMY COOOOOOOOOKIE".

Sorry in Advance.

No one will probably read this, but here it goes.

I started this blog with such enthusiasm (sorry if you EVER used that word in a post) but recently, I have been quite disheartened. Not because I don't get the traffic or comments, I could care less; but because it seems like everyone has become SO protective of "their blog" or "their photos" or "their ideas". Well, I don't get it. Don't we come here to inspire one another? Even if you try to copy or use the same stamp I do, it will never look exactly the same. Art is art, no matter the source. I am flattered that anyone would think enough of my work to think it worthy to repeat or expand upon!

So, we should all have different bottles of polish and never swatch the same one twice. We should not ever follow one another or ask a question of another blogger or artist? Maybe someone wants to use your expertise. Why is that bad? Why does that warrant a flurry of hateful speech or degrading comments? You know what? If you put it out there, SOMEONE IS GOING TO STEAL/BORROW/USE/LEARN FROM IT! Deal!

Get mad that you don't get to review all the polishes the big girls get to, or get mad that someone tries something that you RAVE about on your blog. If you don't want people using your ideas, don't put them in the post.

I am more than supportive of all my blog followers, but maybe that is because I am a teacher. That's right, I have a degree in education.....I have a degree in French Horn....I teach others my skill and when they use my suggestions to better themselves, I am the hero, so to speak. I have done my job. I give my talents and my time and my money freely, and I only wish others could understand that feeling of helping someone else.

I know I haven't blogged as much as I should - maybe I let some of you down, but I can only do as much as this crazy life allows me to do. I work 2 jobs, have a husband and a 9 year old boy....

Sorry I painted the same color ~ I probably really liked YOUR post and had to buy it.
Sorry I used the same stamp ~ I probably really liked YOUR post and had to try it.
Sorry I tried sponging ~ I probably really liked the way YOURS looked and wanted it.
Sorry I baked a cookie ~ I probably always likes MY MOM'S and wanted to try it, too, just fancier.
Sorry I ever followed ~ maybe YOUR friend and I had something in common, too.
Sorry I ever swapped ~ I like to meet YOUR friends and trade items around the world.

I don't know why there is so much hatred here right now, such posessiveness. Aren't we all supposed to help each other; inspire each other; meet and learn about each other? I am so disappointed.

My heart is heavy tonight, and though no one will read this, I have gotten it off my chest and I can sleep (maybe) tonight.

Peace.

Brown and Pink

(be on the lookout for a giveaway ...... at 500 followers!!!!!)

Today's Mani
Brown San San called "Burnt Copper" from my dear Z.!!!!!!
I really wish you could see the gold glimmers in this polish...it has been raining and snowing here, so the best I could do was with flash. humph.
Great Philippine brand!

Then I used BM plate 16 to stamp an all-over flower design, but the pink special polish didn't show up....So, I stamped the coordinating flower on the tips in white. I think it looks more like leather.

I added a little pink rhinestone to each nail and topped with Seche.

Oh, why brown and pink? Because I was wearing my MOST favorite Tommy track jacket and it's well, brown and pink. ;)

My Late, Little Mardi Gras

So, this was pretty much the extent of Mardi Gras here in the mountains...I REALLY wanted to be in the French Quarter. The Commish, Roo and I went there for Thanksgiving and boy, do I love it down there....

These beads are from Mardi Gras 2006 - I wasn't there - they were from our surprise "Engagement Party" that our friends threw for us.

Here's what I used:
1. Sinful Colors "Let's Meet" over whole nail.
2. Sinful Colors "Happy Ending" and L.A. Girl Color Addict "Habit" sponged on the tips and the thumb.
3. Stamped using Konad Purple Pearl and BM plates; 8 and 16. B01 plate and Chez-Delaney T20.
4. Peggy Sage "Scintillant Beige" and L.A. Girl "Habit" for dots and beads.
That's it. Hope you like!
