NYC and the Yankees

I never got around to blogging this, but the Commish and I went to NYC a little while back to see the Yankees before they demolish the stadium. I LOVE the Yanks, and it was awesome. Here are a few pics:

This is me ~ check the reflection in my sunglasses! COOL!

These are some of my favorites from the day....A-Rod on base, Jeter missing and a big hit (see the ball????) Check out the shadow on the mound......

And a couple from the Brooklyn Bridge, another thing I had really never seen. We walked across on Monday morning.

.

Last but certainly NOT least. We went to the Village on Sunday night, and it was hoppin'....We went to a rockin' bar that had LIVE karaoke. It was the coolest thing ever. And, we drank Magic Hat no. 9 for the first time ~ different, but really good!
Live karaoke band site.

I have to get some more photos :) here's one....of me, of course. tee hee

One VP,~ah ah ah ah, Two VP~ah ah ah ah

OK, you guys know this isn't true, right???? But I thought with all the other lies and absurdities, it might give somebody a chuckle.

Subject; Biden stepping down
Let me share some info with you that I have gotten from excellent sources within the DNC: On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing health problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur after the VP debate on 10/2.
There have been talks all weekend about how to proceed with this info. generally, the feeling is that we should all go ahead and get it out there to as many blog sites and personal email lists as is possible. I have already seen a few short blurbs about this - the "health problem" cited in those articles was aneurysm. Probably many of you have heard the same rumblings.
However, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this Obama strategy will be a go.
Therefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front of this Obama maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand manipulation that it is.
So, let's start mixing this one up and cut the Obamites off at the pass - send this info out to as many people as you can - post about it on websites and blogs - etc...

Fins UP

I am really bummed that I missed the Buffett concert in PA Tuesday night. A friend of mine posted a bunch of pics from the parking lot :(

Maybe later in the year? Who knows.
I have seen him in concert MANY times, but it's always a great time -

Spelling

I am right in the middle of watching "Akeelah and the Bee", and I am sure this is one of the BEST movies I have ever seen. (Well, aside from Billy Elliot - which is also on Showtime right now.)

Watch it!

my scarves.

This is the first scarf I made, for WVU football, none the less....I wore it to the world of tailgating, and sold 2 of them!! No pattern, just held three strands of yarn together and dc 6, turn,etc.etc.

This I made for my Roo, and again, WVU blue and gold. It's nothing more than a really long granny pattern, changing colors for each round.

This one is MY granny scarf (just like above), but made for Lakers atire. I know, I know. When I found the purple angora yarn for about $2 at AC Moore. (I always check the clearance bins!) I knew it was destined for greatness.....too bad the Lakers went home without the big trophy!

And finally (but not the final one, oh, there are so many more....) You guessed it, for St. Paddy's Day, I threw this together (in like 20 minutes!) to wear to our local hangout for the evening.

So why talk about scarves when it's the middle of July? I don't know, it just seemed like something to do.

And I just found out that my Roo boy went underwater at his swim lessons! That is VERY cool!
I beleive the ability to swim is an invaluable skill that all children should have. There's still time, enroll your child in swin lessons - it could save their life!

Bad, Bad Photoshop

Here is photo number 1, number 1, number 1......here is photo number 1, where's number 2?

Oh, and a little Robbie Williams just to break up the monotony.....YEAH!!!!

Fox News makes it Funny.

I don't care who you are voting for, this is funny!

We've already been "scolded" for making fun of his ears, and actually ENJOYING the candid interview with his family! What now? This is what's now, and I laughed my arse off!

As for that Access Hollywood interview, I thought they were a charming every-day family. The little one, Sasha, wanted ice cream and the older one, Malia, didn't want to be embarrassed by "DAD", and is excited about possibly getting to decorate her own room in the White House!
(That DOESN'T mean I'll vote for them!)

How much more American can one family get?

The candidates want to be seen as "real-life", "down to earth", "true-blue", but can't get the humor that keep we mere underling voters sane. I think it's worth watching how McCain and Obama deal with the jabs they both receive.

More on the Rod

Just a few of my fave quotes....and a few explanations

"have agreed to pay a $4 million buyout and settle a lawsuit that WVU filed after he broke his contract in December." (signature=contract)

"To help Rich focus on the challenges ahead" (LOTS of U-M losses)

"Rodriguez quit the Mountaineers" (what a coward)

"WVU also recently got an Ohio court to issue a subpoena for testimony and records from Mike Wilcox, Rodriguez's financial adviser." (afraid???????)

"The $4 million liquidated damages clause was suggested by an attorney on the WVU Board of Governors in December 2006, after Rodriguez turned down an offer from Alabama." (but he did visit....already turning his back!)

"He resigned Dec. 16, taking recruits and assistant coaches with him, and leaving the Mountaineers just before the Fiesta Bowl" (yellow)

AND, MY FAVORITE......

" Bill Stewart replaced Rodriguez after a 48-28 victory over the Sooners."

the third one???? We didn't even need you, Rod.

On a lighter note, I have the whole gamut of photo sittings today.

1-year old twins

Engagement photos

Babe Ruth Baseball...... 16 & 17 year-olds

The Roo has also been going to Vacation Bible School this week. This years' theme is "Power Lab" - meaning they are making all kinds of goopy, slimy, well, just plain icky crafts. But, he's a boy and LOVES it!! (I have to admit the music is much better than last year's "Avalanche Ranch". ) They will finish on Friday with a pool party and a program Sunday morning.

Yeaterday we spent an hour putting together a LEGO Spongebob kit. It is called "Rocket Ride", featuring Sandy's spaceship, ATV and elevator "thingy". Needless to say, after about an hour, it was destroyed.....all the parts are spread all over the place, and Roo is putting together all sorts of mis-matched, unrecognizable "things".

It used to look like this:

I also got an email from a friend of mine about "Cocoa Mulch"....I don't know what it's all about, but it's supposed to keep cats from doing their "business" in your flower beds. Instead it's killing dogs. It's been researched here: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asp

I don't have a dog anymore, :( but, thought it might be worth mentioning.

$4 MILLION, Baby!!!!

Pay up, Richie Rich!!!!

"gonna' have to sell some gold....

and blue, and gold...and....."

"Now listen here, son......"

If Thuggy Bowden has to give you pointers and scoldings, you are in some serious freaking trouble.....

Windmills, PLEASE!!!!

First of all - let me say that I don't want to promote any political views on my blog - under normal circumstances, Americans can't debate without being offended or leaving the table angry. With that being said, I DO want to promote WINDMILLS!!!

I live in WV, just over the mountain from a set of these giant machines. They are quiet, elegant and in NO WAY take away from the landscape. We usually stop to gaze at them every time we cross that mountain.

If we could harness this wind power (same as we harnessed water and solar), we could dramatically reduce our dependence on oil by switching our focus from foreign oil to our own spoils of natural gas.

We do have the technology to run our vehicles on NG, and it is much cleaner and safer, and best of all WE HAVE IT!!!!!!!

But the opposition is more worried about bats and birds of prey than they are the citizens of the US. Check the arguments.....
Does that mean I don't feel strongly about the environment???? NO WAY - BUT, we have got to make some sacrifices to save ourselves. This is where Americans are divided.......we would rather save the world than save our America. Have you ever heard the phrase "take care of things at home, first"? Why can't we live by our own rules? Are we worried about what the rest of the world will think? Who cares, we need to help ourselves.

This is crazy yarn love!!!

Everybody knows about my yarn issues - well check this:

So, a couple of days after The Commish gave me the X5, I had to run out and buy matching yarn. (I feel a scarf or belt coming....) Surprisingly, I found yarn that matches the roundel on my hood. I couldn't beleive it.

I tried this a couple of times with the "Magic Adjustable Ring", http://crochetme.com/Dec_Jan_0405/reads_round.html

(thank you Donna!) and it was FAB!!!!! This example is the old fashioned "in the ring".

Here's how I did it. (maiden pattern.....I'll try my best)

Materials:

  • Bernat Softee Baby in Bongo Blue and White
  • Bernat Satin in Ebony
  • G Hook

With White:
Chain 3, sl st to join.

Rd. 1 Ch 3 (counts as first dc); 4 dc in ring. Join Blue when there are 2 loops of last dc left on hook. With Blue: 5 dc in ring. (Repeat joining instructions with white). With white, 5dc in ring. (Join blue). 5 dc in ring. sl st in top of chain.

Rd. 2 With Ebony, sc in every stitch (do not turn). Join with sl st at end of round.

Rd 3. With Ebony, sc in every stitch. Join with sl st. Fasten off.

I guess for you crochet guru out there, it would be just an old fashioned circle motif, alternating colors, and then two rounds of sc on the outside.....

YIPPEEEEE!!!!

WOW!!!! two posts in one day - well, this warrants it.....For the 1st anniversary, The Commish got me this! Surprised???? Yes!!!!

Now I have to make a scarf or belt to match this one, too!

He is just the sweetest. I love you, honey.

THE best day....

Made it to the one year mark! Me and The Commish are celebrating a whole year of fun, laughs and plain old bliss. (well, despite the Mountaineer losses - ha ha ha).

BTW, I know how long it's been since the last blog. There have been a million things going on, not to mention the crocheting.....but THIS is my newest news!!!

Who knew love could be this blue! Yes, it's fast.

One year ago today, I had grand dreams of the most beautiful, warm, sunny outside Spring wedding.

Here's how the day started.

Here's how it ended.

But, we had the most wonderful day one gal could ask for, and the snow, hey, it's one nobody will forget!
I'm going to share a few of my favorite shots from the memorable event.
This is my Pop right before our entrance....
