I started this blog with such enthusiasm (sorry if you EVER used that word in a post) but recently, I have been quite disheartened. Not because I don't get the traffic or comments, I could care less; but because it seems like everyone has become SO protective of "their blog" or "their photos" or "their ideas". Well, I don't get it. Don't we come here to inspire one another? Even if you try to copy or use the same stamp I do, it will never look exactly the same. Art is art, no matter the source. I am flattered that anyone would think enough of my work to think it worthy to repeat or expand upon!
So, we should all have different bottles of polish and never swatch the same one twice. We should not ever follow one another or ask a question of another blogger or artist? Maybe someone wants to use your expertise. Why is that bad? Why does that warrant a flurry of hateful speech or degrading comments? You know what? If you put it out there, SOMEONE IS GOING TO STEAL/BORROW/USE/LEARN FROM IT! Deal!
Get mad that you don't get to review all the polishes the big girls get to, or get mad that someone tries something that you RAVE about on your blog. If you don't want people using your ideas, don't put them in the post.
I am more than supportive of all my blog followers, but maybe that is because I am a teacher. That's right, I have a degree in education.....I have a degree in French Horn....I teach others my skill and when they use my suggestions to better themselves, I am the hero, so to speak. I have done my job. I give my talents and my time and my money freely, and I only wish others could understand that feeling of helping someone else.
I know I haven't blogged as much as I should - maybe I let some of you down, but I can only do as much as this crazy life allows me to do. I work 2 jobs, have a husband and a 9 year old boy....
Sorry I painted the same color ~ I probably really liked YOUR post and had to buy it.
Sorry I used the same stamp ~ I probably really liked YOUR post and had to try it.
Sorry I tried sponging ~ I probably really liked the way YOURS looked and wanted it.
Sorry I baked a cookie ~ I probably always likes MY MOM'S and wanted to try it, too, just fancier.
Sorry I ever followed ~ maybe YOUR friend and I had something in common, too.
Sorry I ever swapped ~ I like to meet YOUR friends and trade items around the world.
I don't know why there is so much hatred here right now, such posessiveness. Aren't we all supposed to help each other; inspire each other; meet and learn about each other? I am so disappointed.
My heart is heavy tonight, and though no one will read this, I have gotten it off my chest and I can sleep (maybe) tonight.
Peace.
Awwww :( I'm sorry you feel this way. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteHuh? I guess I'm a bit clueless because I'm not sure if you're referring to a particular incident. I have noticed a lot more negative posts in the nail blogosphere, but I let those just slide on by. As in real life, there will always be people who get not so nice about things, but we have to just take each experience as a lesson and move on. Keep doing what you love!
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't realize people were getting upset over things like that. I love inspiring people, and I would hope that is why others do it too.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to vent. At least you know we are here for you!
love you tiff.. I'm always here for you.. ♥ hugs
ReplyDeleteexperiencing this the whole time. in my country, there are not many nail bloggers, even then there is too much drama going on.
ReplyDeleteinspiration is what keeps the blogs going. without inspiration I'd feel so lost.
*hugs*
Just don't take it personally. You should do this for you and not others. Negativity will always be a part of it. It's sad, but that's the way it is. I hope you'll realize that it's important what you like and want to do. If people will want to follow you, they will and if not, well...that's OK too. Right?
ReplyDeleteI'm here for you. You know my email if you'll need to talk. ;) Hugs and kisses
That's good that you said what you feel. I hope you feel better now.
ReplyDeleteI'm always here for you. You know that!
I'm just a message away. ♥
Love you dear friend! ♥
just a little comment to let you know I've read this. I never had a similar experience as you probably had, but I hope you regain your fun in blogging soon!
ReplyDeleteaww hope your okay now.
ReplyDeleteHey Tiff,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry some bloggers are getting you down. (Hope I'm not one of them!) I rarely read comments so I am not aware of any negative issues so I hope none of them are directed to YOU.
You are one of the most generous people I've ever dealt with and YOU restored my faith in the kindness of strangers.
Carli
I enjoy your posts, I like your nails and your dog pictures as much. I seldom read comments, I'm so sad some people are trying to be negative in this in the beginning very kink community. Let's keep inspiring each other!
ReplyDeleteLuckily I don't see it happening on my own blog, but there are more and more people who think they have the right to tell you what to do.. not so nice!
ReplyDeleteI just try to avoid those people and have fun about blogging. After all I do think it is meant to inspire other people!
Without sharing, without mutual inspiration, creation wither... Competition and protection of ideas should not come in the way when it comes to artistic things. Why sharing in the first place, then?
ReplyDeleteThere are some people who you take it as flattery from and then there are others who are just in it because they want to "one-up" you and nothing more. I know when it's flattery and when it's not. Im almost 40 now and can tell the difference. It's those people who get on my nerves and those are the ones who get the negativity from me. I'm sorry that you're upset but some people....well you know. I've learned from experience just not to friend the ones who try that.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be highfalutin' for a minute and quote a very wise man. According to ing Solomon "There is nothing new under the sun". Everything that we've seen-with the exception of technological advances-has been done before. I started blogging for fun, and I never want to get to a place where I take myself so seriously that no one else can "steal" my ideas. By all means, steal away. Personally, I'm flattered whenever someone uses an idea I came up with because that means it's a good one. On the other hand, I do not like the meanness that I've seen in the past few months. It has never been as bad as this and I don't understand the origin of it. Just continue to be your fabulous self and post whatever you feel like posting...it's YOUR blog. The haters will just have to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU ~ every one of you who took the time to comment here, or heck, even read my little rant....you must know that this isn't me or my style, but I think it needed to be said. Maybe for those who are thinking it, but were afraid to say it.
ReplyDeleteSo to all of you, again, thank you.
:B

I've thankfully missed all of this drama. So sorry you're having troubles! There are lots of terrific nail bloggers out there but of course there will always be a few who try to spoil things. I hope you can find more interactions with all of the lovely ladies and weed out the icky ones.
ReplyDeleteI had caught your blog and then all of the sudden you were gone. LOL I stuck with it because I liked your blog, so I keep following, waiting, etc. The bottom line is that there are always people who get cranky due to immaturity or misunderstanding. I follow almost 200 blogs, many of which I never comment... I only have one person I even exchange mail with rarely, but I appreciate everyone's blog. I've got ugly-shaped nails, little creativity, few skills, and no consistency... and I appreciate people who have all that I do not. Anyway, I know it's hard, but like Nihrida says, don't take it personally. When you have time, we'll be here... I'll still appreciate the posts! You take care of yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with u we post our designs to inspire people and share what ideas we come up with.. my photos has been used by other people & other removed watermarks..i dont mind if people will copy or redo my mani for the fact its more flattering for my part coz for me when someone is trying to do ur designs its means they love it.. and i had inspired them..i know ur so smart and u have a good heart..just dont let those people turn ur day so bad..
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend.. xoxo
Hey Tiff. I'm sorry if I haven't seen some of your recent posts. I've been off doing my own thing too. Imagine that, bloggers having LIVES that don't revolve around blogging.
ReplyDeleteI makes me raise an eyebrow that anyone would think they are so high and mighty that they would get angry over any of the things you listed. Don't let it get to you, those people ARE NOT WORTH IT. Yeah, I said it. Anyone guilty of that shit needs to grow up. What is the point of being part of a community when you can't even support your fellow bloggers?
To stake your claim on anything you think you've invented and crap on anyone who tries it too? Take it as a compliment. Gees.
sorry, your post made me angry because I hate to think that you've experienced any of that. You are a wonderful person and you were kind enough to little ol' me to reach out and help me get some polishes off my wish list. You are a wonderful person.
xoxo
Just me saying that seeing a post from you always makes me happy! and that I am sorry that people are so stupid!
ReplyDelete{{{HUGS}}}
I am blown away by all of your comments....peace and love.

there still will be bloggers and readers who will be generous to share with one another and inspire everyone. i think you're one of those who spread the sunshine around.
I am humbled by these comments........wow, that is not the reason I made this post, but it sure feels good to know..... I love you all.

ReplyDeleteThis post saddens me, you are awesome, and I feel the same way as you do. We are here to learn and inspire one another, who cares "who did it first"....lift your head up high and know that you inspire me..keep bloggin sistah! :)
